Phrases:  That which we come into this life with. Power of reasoning, ability to communicate ideas, wise application of divine guidance, master of special knowledge, ability to focus energy, psychic abilities, committed to the path of higher knowledge and learning.

Advice:  The Magician represents the natural abilities, talents, knowingness and understanding that a person is born into this world with. It represents the endowments the creator has given a person.  These endowments will encompass all areas of life: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Hence all four suits of the minor arcana are represented in this major arcana card. It also includes the legacy that carries over from past lives and the divine guidance we receive  When the Magician turns upright in a clients spread it is pointing out the inherent abilities he/she already has to draw on for the particular phase of life he/she is in at the time of the reading.

Advice:  The Magician (reversed) can point to the client's own misuse of the gifts represented by the upright Magician as would be the case if he/she were misusing his/her power for selfish gain and harming others in the process.  The Magician (reversed) could instead be pointing out that the client is the one being harmed by someone else's manipulative ways and misuse of talents or power.
