gifts, talents, genius, creativity, creative energy, manifest,
higher knowledge, intellect, instinct, inclination, control,
direction, will power, understanding, wise, wisdom,
knowingness.
Phrases: That which we come
into this life with. Power of reasoning, ability to communicate
ideas, wise application of divine guidance, master of special
knowledge, ability to focus energy, psychic abilities, committed
to the path of higher knowledge and learning.
Advice: The Magician
represents the natural abilities, talents, knowingness and
understanding that a person is born into this world with. It
represents the endowments the creator has given a person.
These endowments will encompass all areas of life: physical,
emotional, mental, and spiritual. Hence all four suits of the minor
arcana are represented in this major arcana card. It also
includes the legacy that carries over from past lives and the
divine guidance we receive When the Magician turns upright
in a clients spread it is pointing out the inherent abilities
he/she already has to draw on for the particular phase of life
he/she is in at the time of the reading.

Reverse position:

Phrases: Psychic vampire.
Domination over others. Being dominated by someone else. Misuse
of power. The abuse of power for selfish gain or
destructive purposes. Out for personal gain. Walking on
others. Being walked on. Taking advantage of others.
Being taken advantage of.
Advice: The Magician
(reversed) can point to the client's own misuse of the gifts
represented by the upright Magician as would be the case if
he/she were misusing his/her power for selfish gain and harming
others in the process. The Magician (reversed) could
instead be pointing out that the client is the one being harmed
by someone else's manipulative ways and misuse of talents or
power.
